Chicago - What ever happened to a woman just saying "Sorry, I'm not interested" and leaving the guy to bother someone else?

Chicago Police Officer, Chris Collins, is facing a lawsuit alleging he inflicted emotional damage on Evagelina Paredes after using DMV records to track her down and leave a note on her car asking her out on a date.

"It's Chris … that ugly bald Stickney cop who gave you that ticket. … I know this may seem crazy and you're probably right, but truth is I have not stopped thinking about you since. I don't expect a girl as attractive as you to … even go for a guy like me, but I'm taking a shot anyways."

"I did cost you $132 - least I can do is buy you dinner," quoted from the note.

This note is clearly humble and quite sincere.

Paredes could have simply called him and turned him down. Instead, she filed a lawsuit claiming that the note caused her to "suffer great fear and anxiety."

He never made any contact prior to this incident, and has shown no signs of stalking her. This incident could potentially cost the 27 year old Officer his job.
