Shawn Dresser, the owner of Dare Ware Fashions on Saxon Blvd, has been in business for over 20 years.

So it came as a surprise to Dresser that Deltona's City Council would now enforce a code ordinance for this particular business, which was there before Deltona became a City.
According to reports, the city wants to clean up it's image. With all the parks in Deltona being revamped, the library facility completed, and roads being widened, the next step was to focus all of its energy on the relocating Dare Ware Fashions from the city's main entrance.

While the logistics would make sense to outsiders, the fact that this business has been a target because of the image it portrays, is nonsense. The sign on the road does not draw negative attention, or scream "COME GET YOUR PORN!"
A business that has paid their taxes and potentially brought revenue to surrounding businesses like Publix, Wendy's and the ever changing shops that open and close in that plaza, is unfair.
Not to mention, enforcing this would only add another vacant suite to a complex struggling to keep businesses there.
Across the street, you'll find an abandoned Hollywood Video building, and a sleazy internet gambling cafe packed to the brim with low-lives.
It's disheartening the city would focus time and tax payer dollars to help a legitimate business potentially take it's storefront elsewhere. With a struggling home sales market, the city can't afford losing another successful business.
Mayor John Masiarczyk, agreed this was a ridiculous attack. "That business has been there for years and years. If you go in there, you go in of your own free will," reported the West Volusia Beacon.
