NASA reports Earth has two moons
Space - The final frontier. No truer words have been spoken in recent history. Besides I-4 sucks, of course.
According to a story in the Huffington Post, scientist have admitted we actually have two moons. This, according to NASA, has opened up a whole new need for enhanced satellite imagery. Asteroid 2006 RH120 became our second moon for a full year from July of 2006, through July of 2007. Seems these asteroids, about the size of a refrigerator are prone to being caught in earths orbit, essentially making them secondary moons. If you just purchased a telescope for the kids, now is the time to sit up at night and aim that beast to the sky. The report states the best month for us to acquire these newly orbiting objects are January, due in part to our distance from the sun at this time of they year. Plus, it would make a great excuse to get cozy with someone you like, stare up at the stars, and actually discover something new. |
