_ATTALLA, Alabama - You would think in this day and age, people would adhere to a level of moderation when applying discipline to their children.

That was not the case with one Alabama family. And it cost this 9-year-old girl her life.

Savannah Hardin died after being forced to run for 3 hours around her house, supposedly for lying to her grandmother and stepmother about eating a candy bar.

That 3 hour run caused Savannah to go into a seizure caused by dehydration and over-exhaustion.

She was rushed to Children's Hospital in Birmingham, where they were not able to wake her. She eventually passed away. After an autopsy showed Savannah had fatally low levels of sodium and was extremely dehydrated, the State Pathologist ruled her death a Homicide.

A candy bar is no cause to brutally punish a child and put them in harms way. Verbal discipline and additional chores would have sufficed. What in god's name caused these two women to torture a child like this?

Does their geographic location and socioeconomic background play a part in this?

I believe it's safe to say YES.

Some customers just can't take a hint. At least that's what one McDonald's manager is claiming happened when she had to defend herself against an unruly customer.

A drunk idiot stumbled into the wrong fast food joint on February 2nd and decided to harass the manager of a busy McDonald's in King's Cross, Sydney.

According to the report, the customer was badgering the store manager and attempted to get behind the counter.

This manager took matters into her own hands as the assailant was much larger than she.

Jenelle Potter, another completely useless member of society in her early 30's, sits on Facebook 24 hours a day, harassing people. She was already facing a couple of harassment cases involving Facebook stalking after someone else defriended her and blocked her completely.

Her psychopathic usage of Facebook lead to the murders of Billy Clay Payne, Jr. and Billie Jean Hayworth.

Their 8-month-old son was found in Billy Jean's arms by police when they arrived at the home.

Jenelle's father, "Buddy" Potter, and his accomplice Jamie Lynn Curd were arrested for the murders. At this time, Jenelle is still free as she has not been charged.

As they were calling the police, the neighbors grabbed an elderly woman and pulled her into safety as Mr. Wong was spraying the liquid on anything he could.

After a short struggle, he pulled out a lighter and as he was about to set Mrs. Wong on fire, she free herself, and managed to get the lighter to make contact with his own gasoline doused shirt.

61-year-old Mark Berndt, a veteran teacher and leader of young minds, has used his position of power over children for terrible things.

Over 400 photos of children in bondage type of positions, taken in the classroom, were turned over to police by a local photo developer when they realized these photos clearly showed children in compromising positions.

According to a Los Angeles Police Department press release, "what appeared to be a blue plastic spoon, filled with an unknown clear/white liquid substance, up to their mouths as if they were going to ingest the substance," a statement that left parents in tears.

That white liquid substance tested positive for semen.

He is being held on $23 Million bond, which equates to $1 Million per child he is accused of abusing.
