Ocoee, FL - With all the advancements in gun safety made over the past century, there's one component that cannot be fixed. The human brain. A 2-year old now lays in Arnold Palmer Hospital, clinging to life, because his idiotic older cousin was "placing the .22 caliber gun into a box and it went off." This, according to the Associated Press, is what caused this tragedy. As a gun owner, I can think of several reasons why proper gun safety would have never allowed this scenario to occur. Now, the cousin did the right thing in admitting it was his fault and no charges have been filed. The guilt alone of nearly killing a 2 year old will ruin him for the rest of his life. This is also another reason why people need to understand that the caliber of a gun doesn't determine definitively its level of lethality. By that, I mean, just because it was a .22 handgun, the smallest handgun caliber made, didn't stop this bullet from penetrating a wall and piercing the skull of a baby. Statistically, the .22 round is one of (if not the most) deadliest calibers made. There are many accidental shootings and deaths attributed to this caliber. People need to respect every gun, no matter what caliber the bullet. Here are some tips:
Add Comment Orlando - An unmasked, armed woman robbed the Winn Dixie on Conroy Road and Michigan Street. That doesn't seem strange right? What is remarkable is that business went on as usual, no one even noticed the robbery taking place. According to the store manager, she pulled out a gun, and they went to the safe room where she emptied it out, packed her bag, and left. Incredible enough, the store manager, customers, and empoyees suffered no injuries. No one was shot. This woman's approach to robbery was smooth as silk. She was able to get in, get out, and get paid without harming innocent people. Oddly enough, they also can't get a good description of her as the accounts seem to vary from person to person interviewed. So unless she turns herself in, she may never be caught. Interesting. Apopka - Rare a day to get to see the victim stand up for themselves. We couldn't be more proud of 33 year old Secretta Neal. Local mother of four. After a day of shopping for seemingly useless crap at Wal-Mart, she was followed home by a couple of idiot thugs who underestimated the will of a woman. These jerks kicked in the door, put a gun to her 14 year old son's neck, tied up her boyfriend, and demanded money. Because working hard for it is just totally out of the question. Secretta outwitted her would-be robbers by going to her closet and getting a 9mm. She shot one of them dead, in the living room. However, before going down, he fired off one shot. Hitting Secretta in upper right arm. Not only did she protect her family as those men were armed, she proved a valuable point. The 9mm platform is sufficiently deadly for close quarters situations and a great home defense option for most people. More people need take this message seriously.
