Lake Mary - If you live in the Lake Mary, Heathrow, Altamonte area, then you have probably heard of Papa Joes. The owner, Mike G. is a close personal friend of mine. We went to high school together. I can say the man is an expert in his field. A true Pizza Connoisseur who runs three successful restaurants, Mike was recently interview by Fox 35 for a segment on National Pizza Day. Pretty cool stuff! Check it out. Don't be surprised if you are starving after watching this. Add Comment By Steve Figueroa Around 7PM Saturday, a strong gas odor blanketed the Seminole Town Center. I was actually there in the parking lot of Ale House when this occurred. Something was definitely not right about it. My buddy and I were standing outside the Sanford Ale House, watching a family assist their daughter change a flat tire on I-4. For some reason they decide to hoof it across the highway with the spare tire in hand, leaping a 7 foot barrier wall to head towards the Sears Auto Center. As we stood there baffled by what we were watching, we were both hit hard by the scent of propane. It was pretty intense. We couldn't think of a source as we were standing in the parking lot, far away from anything resembling a large propane tank. Shortly after the odor hit us, sirens could be heard. One after another, Seminole County Fire trucks began to arrive. The food court was evacuated by Mall Security and they also shut off the Main Gas Valve. Once the Fire Department went inside and realized how strong the odor was, they pulled the fire alarm to evacuate the entire building. This situation could have been devastating had an explosion occurred. Right now, crews are working to figure out the cause of the gas leak and the Mall is scheduled to be reopened Sunday morning. ![]() Deputy Matt Miller Longwood - Hundreds of officers came from all over the state to pay their respects to fallen Deputy, Matt Miller, 53. He served Seminole County for 24years, and never had one complaint. In a world full of people who love to complain, that says a lot about this officer. Prior to his career as a Deputy, he was also U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Details of the accident are still being investigated by the F.H.P. However, the department has stated he began pursuit on a speeding vehicle when the car made a hard right and Deputy Miller slammed into the passenger side. Deputy Matt Miller is survived by his wife, siblings, and hundreds of officers and citizens whom he left a lasting impression with. Details of the incident can be seen here. Full image gallery of the funeral can be seen here. Sanford - God only knows why a 66 year old was driving an Impala in the first place. The Orlando Sentinel reports a southbound Amtrak train heading for Miami, creamed a nice old lady in her Impala. Turns out she came up with the brilliant plan to turn off the road she was on, and got stuck on the tracks. Fight or Flight certainly did not play a factor as Joyce Piazza stayed in the vehicle while this 100 Ton Bullet of Fledgeling Train business smashed into her car. Fortunately, she only sustained minor injuries. I can't imagine the guilt of the conductor watching her from a mile away NOT getting out of the car. And letting it get demolished like most normal people would. That's what insurance is for. I only hope the image above represents the car in this story. Sadly. It's probably a nice new impala. | Seminole County
