Tropicana finds trace fungicide in Tropicana Juice
Chicago - The FDA advised they are halting the import of any juice products and testing for dangerous levels of the fungicide carbendazim.
I know what you're thinking. "What the hell is carbendazim?" Carbendazim is used in Brazil to combat blossom blight and black spot, a type of mold that grows on orange trees. Due to growing demand, most juice makers import their fruits from South America in order to combat costs and meet demand. This does not reduce the need of local farmers one bit. With the news of this discovery, American fruit farms are going to be working harder to meet demands of Pepsi and other fruit juice makers who are going to be directly affected by the FDA's discovery.
